Quest4Success Hosting British Science Week for The ATL Learning Centre in Deptford Library

Saturday 21st March, 2015.

The ATL Learning Centre inspire and encourage children and young people from backgrounds with limited resources, to pursue careers in the field of Science & Technology through the delivery of workshops and motivational speeches.

They decided to put this event together to support government efforts in promoting the learning of Sciences, especially amongst the African and African-Caribbean communities. According to government publications, the UK needs to have higher rates of students taking the Science route, if Britain is to compete in the global economy.

The event was an excellent opportunity for children to explore and investigate and also develop analytical thinking and problem solving skills. Children and young people learned how technology is used to improve the quality of our lives.

I hosted the event for 6 hours, working alongide guest speakers already in the S.T.E.A.M field and the founder of The ATL Learning Centre.   The ATL Learning Centre is a tuition provider that specializes in Science and Languages.  It aims to close the attaintment gap between children from less priviledged backgrounds and  children coming from more affluent families.  They deliver high quality  lessons in Maths, English, Science, Spanish and French to children in the local community.  It offers a supportive and engaging learing environment for young people between the ages of 6 and 16. The service is designed to enhance the mainstream teaching environment through providing additional support.
